Starting a Blog

We would have to say the idea of blogging came to us in a very sudden way. We realized that we sometimes don't express what is going on in our lives very well to our family and friends. So, we thought a blog would be a great idea. Now, let's begin.....

Summer Time part 1

We love the summers...we always have so much to do and we have so much fun doing it all. And now that the Oreo is a little bigger we were able to do a little more this year. We started out our summer with the Brownie's graduation.
He worked so hard and it all the paid off.He was able to graduate with honors and we had a wonderful day celebrating his success.

This was a morning breakfast at the Brownie's school.

Going on a school tour.

A true graduate! Congratulations

This beautiful clock was given to the Brownie as a graduation gift by his grandparents.

Our next big summer activity was the Oreo's first camping trip. We have never seen our little Oreo so occupied or so dirty so far.
The first thing the Oreo does is go straight for the dirt. He wastes no time at all and within minutes he is covered head to toe in dirt.

The Oreo's other favorite activity was collecting sticks and swinging in his uncle's hammock.

Okay so maybe he was a little unsure of the hammock but at least he tried it out. The Oreo also went on a hike and played in the river that was nearby.

The water was so cold that he could only stand in the water for about 10 seconds but he still had fun.

Even the Brownie had fun exploring by the river.

After playing in the dirt, sun, and woods...we were all ready to have a nice dinner and good conversation around the camp fire.
One of the Oreo's Uncle made him a spoon out of wood and coals.

After all of our fun we finally made it off to bed. The Oreo slept good until he somehow rolled out of his sleeping bag and all of his layers of clothes and blankets. That's when he had to come to bed with us. The Brownie and I were glad when morning finally came.

The Oreo had so much fun that he did not want to go home. And he revolted our efforts to pack up and leave.

And yes he did this himself.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for a great camping trip!

Happy Anniversary!

May 20th 2010 was an amazing day for the Brownie and the Muffin! That was the day that we started our life together. It was an amazing day and we won't forget it. Now here we are three years later in 2013. We are amazed at what has happened in those 3 years. We wanted to share with you what we did this year for our Anniversary. We were excited that we actually got to do something. Last year it was to close after having the Oreo that we made it out to dinner and we were grateful just to do that.

We started out with a beautiful morning sky. We loved the way the clouds looked up on the horizon.

For some reason May 20th was the only day that the Brownie was able to get a dentist appointment. So that was the first thing that we did that morning. While the Brownie was getting his teeth checked the Muffin was playing Angry Birds and winning three stars on all the levels.

After we were done with the dentist we decided to have lunch at Famous Dave's. This is one of our favorite places to eat. The Brownie loves the boneless wings. And we always have fun trying all the different sauces.

After we were done at Famous Dave's we headed to the Anniversary Inn. We went to the Anniversary Inn in Logan for our 1 year anniversary. We loved it so much we wanted to do it again... So this year we went to the Anniversary Inn in downtown Salt Lake City.

This year we choose the room Savanna Nights and it was beautiful. We got our room key and headed up to our room where we spent a few hrs just relaxing...ahhhhhhhh that was nice.

The Muffin's favorite parts about the room were the giant tub

and the balcony.

Whenever you stay at an Anniversary Inn they always leave you some sparkling cider and cheesecake. We forgot to take a picture of the cheesecake but remembered the sparking cider.

After awhile we finally decided we should probably get out before it was to late. The Muffin's mom gave us an amazing gift card to go to the Cheese Cake Factory. We saved that gift card for this very special occasion and we were glad we did because we had an amazing dinner.

The Brownie got a really yummy looking pizza,

And the Muffin went all out and got probably the most unhealthy dinner menu item, a Macaroni and Cheese hamburger. We never heard of such a thing either but the Muffin said it was pretty amazing!

After dinner we spent the rest of the evening roaming around city creek.

The best part about our roaming City Creek was going into the different department stores and choosing different colon and perfume for each other. We had to keep sniffing the coffee beans because our noses kept getting overwhelmed with different senses. This is the only time we really ever sniff coffee beans... we don't usually like the smell of coffee but it really works to clear your nose.

We ended our night with a movie, popcorn, and some drinks. We ended up watching "Playing for Keeps." It was an okay movie...next time I think we will get a movie that is a little more exciting.

When we checked in the day before we ordered our breakfast to come at about 8:30. We thought that we would just wake up because our little Oreo is always awake before this time. I don't think we realized how tired we were but we woke up at 9:00. We did not hear them knock on our door when they brought it. We found our breakfast out side our door. I guess we would change that as well. It was still very good.

We had an amazing time!

Planting, Planting, and more Planting

Every year in the month of May is a very busy month for us. May is the month of planting the Brownie's dad's several cemeteries and mortuaries in our area. We are never sure why we get ourselves into this but we do it every year.

We are going to take you on our journey of planting.

We start with several flats of flowers.

This year we did things a little differently. Usually we each take our own flat and then pop the flowers as we go. But this year the Muffin went up early and started popping flowers before the Brownie got there. Planting goes much faster once the flowers our popped.

Once the flowers our popped, we plant!

And plant some more.

There is never a year that goes by when we plant that we don't end up with really dirty pants,

 holes in our jeans,

and dirty fingers even when we wear gloves.

After we finish with each flat we toss it aside and go on to the next one.

And before we know it we are halfway!

We were lucky this time because we even had a little bit of help.

And after 2 days we finally finished this huge circle of flowers.

All our empty flats and believe it or not this was only the beginning of our planting.

Last step the watering

Now we can go home and get a good night sleep and get ready for the next day of planting.
